Apply to the Online Workshop on NRE Fleet for Thin, Inclined, Sub-horizontal Ore Bodies
Dear raw materials professionals, academicians and students,
We are pleased to invite you to our second Online Workshop on “Practical usage of the NRE fleet for thin, inclined sub-horizontal ore bodies,” scheduled for December 3, 2025. This event will bring together industry professionals, experts, and academics to discuss the latest developments, applications, and future of the narrow reef mining.
The NRE (Narrow Reef Mining) fleet is a cutting-edge suite of mining machinery designed for efficient operation in thin, sub-horizontal ore bodies. Developed for versatility and precision, the NRE fleet includes electric, remote-controlled vehicles that can navigate challenging underground environments with minimal human intervention. Its key features include improved safety, enhanced productivity, and reduced operational costs, making it an ideal solution for mining deposits that are otherwise difficult to access or extract using traditional methods.
This workshop is organised in a framework of the EIT RawMaterials project NRE-ElectRA. Electric, Remote control, Automatic Narrow Reef mining Equipment which aims to will develop and commercialize innovative, remote-controlled, electric-powered equipment that has the main function of mechanized production of strategic metals from Ultra-Low mining profiles ranging from 0.9 to 1.7 meters.
Following the success of the first edition, applications are now open for the 2nd PRO-SLO PhD School, funded by EIT RawMaterials. The program is intended for PhD students from all academic disciplines and focuses on the concept of Social Licence to Operate (SLO).
About the Program
The school consists of both online and onsite components:
Online module:9–13 February 2026 – lectures on the fundamentals of SLO, including policy, social, ethical, and environmental perspectives.
Project work:23 February – 27 March 2026 – students work in groups on SLO projects with online mentorship.
Onsite module:19–24 April 2026, Kassandra Mines, Hellas Gold S.A., Greece – interaction with stakeholders and development of methodologies for achieving SLO.
Additional Information
Entry level: No prior experience in the SLO field required.
We are pleased to announce that the DIM ESEE Conference 2025 program is now published.
Join us in Dubrovnik (October 15–17) for expert talks, panel discussions, poster sessions, and networking opportunities across the raw materials sector.
DIM ESEE – From innovative workshop to regional conference
Since 2016, the DIM ESEE workshops in Dubrovnik have grown into a well-recognized educational platform in the raw materials sector, bringing together over 500 participants from 20 European countries, during past 9 editions. Initially launched as a lifelong learning project, DIM ESEE aimed to transfer international knowledge and strengthen innovation capacities in in mineral exploration, extraction, processing, recycling, and waste management. By 2020, the project had become an EIT RawMaterials success story in the ESEE region.
From 2016 to 2024, nine editions of the Dubrovnik International ESEE Mining School were held:
2016. – Innovative approaches to blasting
2017. – Zero waste management
2018. – Deep intelligent mining
2019. – Small mining sites: Innovation in mining
2020. – Small mining sites: Innovation in exploitation and processing
2021. – Innovation in exploration
2022. – Innovation in process oriented orebody characterization
2023. – Innovation in extraction
2024. – Innovation in ore processing
Over 50 companies participated at academia-industry innovative workshops, strengthening industry collaboration and public understanding of sustainability and circular economy in mining.
Now, starting in 2025, DIM ESEE evolves into a conference format, aiming for greater visibility, cost-efficiency, and international reach. The conference will feature high-level lectures, panel discussions, networking opportunities, and a sustainable financial model to ensure long-term success and impact in the raw materials community.
