The study programmes of the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering are based on the principles of the Bologna declaration and ECTS credit system. This enables students to be competitive, increases the mobility of students and teachers, and graduate students can participate in the European common market of education and labour. The structure of the programme is a three-level model (3+2+3):
- Undergraduate study, (lasts for 3 years, 180 ECTS credits), upon completion a title of Bachelor of Science is awarded
- Graduate study, (lasts for 2 years, 120 ECTS credits), upon completion a title of Master of Science is awarded
- Doctoral study (lasts for 3 years, 180 ECTS credits), upon completion a title of Doctor of Science is awarded.
The teaching process at the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering is conducted through lectures, exercises, seminars, practicum and laboratory work, fieldwork, summer practice, tutorials, professional work and research. The goal is to ensure a continuous tracking of students’ work and to develop a concept of formal and informal education through study programmes. New teaching methods are directed at implementing the possibility of e-learning and adaptation to the individual style of each student by encouraging further development of the student’s lifelong competencies. E-learning provides students with a range of advantages in the learning process such as flexibility of time and space (learning at any time and any location), access to current multimedia and interactive teaching materials, access to the repositories of educational contents and digital archives.
